This is Molly, our golden retriever, lying in her usual position by the dinner table when we have dinner.....just in case, as something may fall to the floor !I'm still trying to catch up with theses classes having been away on holiday. This weeks class was to use a very simple spoon and take numerous shots with the sun in varying positions. I have been struggling to do this during the day, however I managed to use some studio lights tonight to do the same exercise. Not quite the same I know, but I really loved the resulting shadows and learnt a lot in the process.
This weeks task on the Still Life course, was to print some of my images to date and revisit them.
This has been a really good thing to do, as it made me realise how much I have learned and how much I am enjoying it :) Both these pictures below are of flowers from my garden.
The rose was picked a few weeks ago and I have been having a go at drying them myself, which is a first for me ! So tonight I got a couple of new Kim Klassen presets & a texture to play around with.
Picture 1 = original Picture 2 = Olden Days preset (strips most of colour out) Texture Waterfront1 Hard light 18% & again soft light 13% Font Dear Sarah Picture3 = Melancholy preset (earthy and split tone = purple hue to shadows, so reduced saturation) Texture Waterfront 1 soft light 29% Font Dear Sarah I'm currently drawn to the warmth of the middle one........but that could all change tomorrow... The homework was to think about props, backdrops, textures etc for still life photos. So far, I have raided my table cloths, runners, napkins etc, managed to buy the glass bottle in the picture below from TK Max and have a light weight fold away table on order from Amazon. #props
I have joined Kim Klassens Be Still - fifty two class, which is a year long journey……. centered around still life photography……
I have never done an online class before, but I really like Kim's work and am really looking forward to it. The object of the class is to inspire me…. to pause…take time…slow down…. capture quiet amongst the chaos……. |
